They say the family who prays and plays together stays together.
We are a sociable bunch here at St Silas who enjoy meeting people. On this page you will find information about the various groups run by church members. Some groups help with keeping the church running while others meet to offer activities and support to those who attend.
If you would like to find out more about them please either send an email via our contact form or contact the named person for the group.
Groups at St Silas Church
We meet on the fourth Tuesday afternoon of each month and have 25 lovely and lively members. Friendship is our main aim. Fund-raising is our second aim. We join with Mothers’ Union for special occasions, and support them whenever we can. New members are always very welcome. Please contact Ruth Loft, secretary, 01254 262324 or email@example.com.
St Silas Choir
St Silas is proud to have the only church choir in Blackburn at present. We rehearse twice a month for the morning Eucharist services, at which we sing a wide range of hymns, traditional and modern, worship songs, and anthems from our repertoire, when numbers permit. Members of the choir also help and support the various concert events in the church.
The choir members are very friendly and welcoming, and we are always on the lookout for new members: no previous experience necessary! So if you feel able to come and join us, please contact David Brindle, via our email. We will be delighted to hear from you.
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30 pm (unless otherwise stated) in the Parish Centre. We have a varied calendar of speakers at our meetings and occasionally other activities. New members are always made very welcome. Please ring Margaret (201247) or Anne (680366) for further information.
Our bell ringers come from all over Lancashire. We meet to practise ringing on Fridays at 8pm at St Silas.
The Flower Guild
The St. Silas Flower Guild is a dedicated team of ten members made up of three teams who in turn decorate the church each week, every Friday or Saturday morning.
We would give a warm welcome to new members to join our happy group and to anyone who wishes to remember a dear one or an event in the form of a flower donation at a particular time of the year.
